These videos contrast the 722 and 922 user interfaces. I apologize for the shakycam. When I got the basic Dish DVR, the VIP 722, I was really disappointed in the user interface (UI). Compared to my previous DVRs (UltimateTV, Tivo, HR20), it was clunky to use, especially when it came to managing my recordings. So I went looking at the 922, but I found it difficult to find its latest UI online. Worse, both Dish and my installer swore that the only differences were hard disk size and the inclusion of channel logos. This is simply not true. The UI is much simpler (yet has more functionality) and makes vastly better use of HD resolution. Skimming and managing recordings is much easier. Only prioritizing timers is actually worse than on the 722.
